A message from our President, David Wu

(ONLINE SURVEY BELOW)

Dear Neighbors,

Allow me to introduce myself: I’m David Wu, your newly elected HOA president. Having been a resident of our wonderful neighborhood for the past five years, I’m had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the warmth and camaraderie that defines our community. Now, as your HOA president, I am committed to serving the community as a whole and ensuring that our neighborhood continues to thrive.

I am reaching out to each of you because I believe that your input is crucial in shaping the future of our community. Together, we can work towards enhancing our neighborhood and making it an even better place to live.

To kickstart this process, we are initiating a community-wide survey to gather your thoughts and opinions on various matters. Your feedback will guide us in making informed decisions that reflect the desires and priorities of our diverse community.

Here are some of the topics we’d like to hear your thoughts on:

1. Security Measures: We’re considering the possibility of adding flock security cameras which are monitored by the police department to our neighborhood entrance/possibly rear entrance. Your input on this matter will help us ensure the safety and security of all residents while taking into account privacy concerns.

2. Covenants Enforcement: Upholding community covenants is essential for maintaining property values and a harmonious living environment. I have seen on social media some concerns on covenants/county ordinance enforcement and how it’s being reported. I want to increase transparency and discussion on this topic. Your opinions on covenant enforcement will assist us in ensuring compliance and fairness for all residents.

3. Rental Cap Amendment: I heard some strong opinions on the Rental Cap Amendment and would love to have longer conversations with individuals on it. There was some opinions that the amendment should be adjusted but currently we are waiting to see the results of the vote. We currently don’t have the required votes to pass or deny the amendment. If you can please put in your vote so we can decide next steps and if the amendment needs to be adjusted or be dropped all together.

4. Long-Term Goals: We’re interested in hearing your ideas for long-term community goals. Whether it’s improving amenities, enhancing green spaces, or promoting sustainability, your input will shape our vision for the future. Some ideas that have been floated is a new club house which can be a 5-10 year goal if not longer. Some short-term goals of possibly rebuilding the playground, parking for the swimming pool, tennis court (maybe pickleball)? But I want to hear from the community as a whole what these goals should be.

5. Interest in Amenities: Your feedback on existing amenities like the pool, as well as your interest in potential improvements, will help us prioritize community investments that align with your recreational preferences. Also any investments should have the broadest impact possible so understanding if you are using the current amenities or are not, why and what ideas you might have.

6. HOA Support: As part of our commitment to support you, we’re exploring various ways the HOA can enhance our neighborhood. This can include negotiating a collective garbage collection rate for the neighborhood, traffic mitigation, inquiring with the county on painting the newly paved roads, etc. If anybody has any other ideas how the HOA can improve or help the residents we would love to hear from you.

Your participation in this survey is essential, and I encourage you to share your thoughts openly and honestly. Together, we can build a stronger, more vibrant community that we’re all proud to call home.

Look out for the survey in your inbox. Your input matters, and I thank you in advance for your contributions to our shared community.

Best regards,

David Wu HOA President

Parkwood Commons

Please sign our petition to have speed cushions installed in Parkwood Commons.

Living in Parkwood Commons Subdivision, I have seen firsthand the dangers posed by speeding vehicles. Our neighborhood is home to many families with young children who play outside, and the excessive speed of some drivers puts their safety at risk. Installing speed cushions would significantly reduce speeding and make our streets safer for everyone.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, traffic calming measures like speed cushions can reduce average speeds by up to 20%. This simple addition could prevent accidents and ensure a safer environment for all residents.

Please join me in urging local authorities to install speed cushions in Parkwood Commons Subdivision. Sign this petition to help protect our community!

We are on the schedule for Cobb County DOT to do a speed study in our neighborhood which will happen late 2024 or early 2025. We want to get ahead of the game and have a petition ready to go so no time is lost in getting a petition together if they need one. We had a speed study completed a few years ago and we were denied, So I have a good feeling that we will need the petition this time around.
